Account removal
Kanto lets account holders remove their account from inside the product. This page explains how to do it and what happens to account data afterward.
How to remove your account
- Sign in to your Kanto account.
- Open Settings.
- Scroll to the Danger zone section.
- Select Remove account.
- Enter your current password to confirm the request.
Account removal requires an authenticated session and your current password. If you cannot access the account anymore, contact axeeeeeel@proton.me for account-access or privacy-request help.
What Kanto deletes
Kanto’s intended default is permanent deletion, not soft hiding. When removal succeeds, Kanto aims to delete the account and directly linked service data.
- Account and profile records
- Sessions and authentication-related records
- Verification rows
- Follows, votes, community memberships, notifications, and saved state
- Owned communities, authored threads, and authored replies
- Messages associated with the removed account
- Personalization data and directly linked report or moderation records tied to that account
What may be retained temporarily
Some short-lived technical traces may persist temporarily after removal as part of normal infrastructure behavior. This can include transient caches, backup snapshots, or short-retention provider logs. Kanto still treats account removal as a permanent deletion request rather than a profile-only deactivation.
